Shell in 2008 embarked on a major plan to rationalise and consolidate offices in major countries where it operates. With an office footprint in excess of 700,000 sq ft in 11 different buildings, Shell Malaysia was identified as one of the 5 pathfinder countries to undergo this major change in Shell’s office accommodation strategy. It coincided with Shell’s implementation of a new workplace strategy ( Shellworks), allowing this consolidation to develop new, a work environment that achieves cost, space and operating efficiency, and improve work collaboration and synergy within the various businesses in Shell.
This session tells the journey that Shell undertook between 2008 and 2012, telling the story how this consolidation was achieved, the interim challenges and work environment that was created.

I have been with Shell for 13 years and previously 11 years in the various RE roles. I am a Chartered Surveyor by profession. In my career with Shell, I have had various stints within Downstream Retail Business and Corporate Real Estate. I am currently the Asia Pacific Regional Manager for Real Estate Programme Delivery leading a team of Portfolio Managers that deliver Real Estate solutions for Shell’s Businesses and Group Functions, ranging from Site acquisitions, Real Estate portfolio management, Office construction & refurbishment and site dispositions. The portfolio in Asia Pacific is approximately 1500 sites across 17 countries. It is predominantly an Industrial portfolio. I was previously based in Shell UK between 2002 and 2006, managing Shell’s European RE portfolio.
Prior to Shell, I have worked as a University lecturer, in property consultancy and property development. With work related activities and projects in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, UK and Middle East.
